Carpenter's Lane

4th May 2003

I hadn't enjoyed the last couple of squat parties I'd been to, at new year and in January, I was feeling I'd done enoughof them. But I was down in London in May for the Ganja day celebration in Brockwell Park and I ran into Pete. I'd only met pete once before, in the Brick Lane party, it's his video you can see on that page and he knew of a big party that night, so off we went.

This one was huge, lots and lots of rigs all over this huge old factory and it was a genuine free party in spirit, no dark side or nasty people that I saw.

I lost Pete early on, there were just so many people and it was dark. That was apity but it was alot of fun and there were lots of friendly people to talk to and share things with.

Dawn came and it turned into a hot day. Outside was the remains of a fire and the site backed up on the river Lee, it's now a part of the Olympic park.

Next door was a fridge graveyard - mountains of old fridges. I'm sure I took a photo of it but it wasn't on the film.

All the time the dark interior of the old factory carried on with the rave andof course I dipped in and out. A new rig set up in the outside area in the afternoon and that was just wonderful, but the body was hinting it had had enough sadly.

I really enjoyed this one and stayed 'till late afternoon when I really had to go home, I had work the next day. The party was carrying on though and was set to go on for at least one more night

So I finished my squat rave days on a real high, one of the best free parties I'd been to, an ideal way to finish.
