Most of my life has been pretty conventional sadly, I had always worked full time, bought a house, paid into a pension scheme and all that. But everyone has free time and just going up the pub and watching TV left me cold. Out there was a much more interesting way to have fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study was carried our to see how substances sprayed form aircraft would spread across the city, an inert substance was used, but of course, it was all done in secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magdalen Street in the north of the city was once full of ancient buildings, but it was a very poor area and the people lived in overcrowded houses, close to poverty. In the 1960’s the whole area was flattened to allow for the building of the inner ring road and the brutalist Anglia Square shopping scheme.

These pages were made in 2005, Anglia Square was finally demolished in 2016 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020 the COVID epidemic meant the country – and indeed much of the world – went into lockdown. Everything apart from essential shops were closed and the population were confined to their houses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However we were allowed to ride bikes for exercise, so I made maximum use of the opportunity to see Norwich as a ghost city, an almost post apocalyptic scene of empty streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was talked into recording the ancient routes into Norwich, mostly leading to the cathedral by my late friend Jack Girling. These videos are the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
